Aish El Saraya – Middle Eastern Dessert – Recipe by Food Fusion

Ingredients:

Prepare Ashta (Cream Layer):

-Doodh (Milk) 2 Cups

-Cream 1 Cup

-Sugar 4 tbs or to taste

-Maida (All-purpose flour) 2 tbs

-Cornflour 2 tbs

-Rose water 1 tbs

Prepare Caramel Syrup:

-Sugar 1 Cup

-Nurpur butter salted 2 tbs

-Water 1 & ½ Cup

-Rose water 1 tbs

-Lemon juice ½ tsp

-Bread slices 8 large

-Nurpur Butter salted

Assembling:

-Soan papri optional for garnish

-Pista (Pistachios) chopped

 

Directions:

Prepare Ashta (Cream Layer):

-In a wok,add milk,cream,sugar,all-purpose flour,cornflour,rose water & whisk well.

-Turn on the flame & cook on low flame until it thickens (4-5 minutes) & set aside.

Prepare Caramel Syrup:

-In a saucepan,add sugar & cook on very low flame until sugar caramelizes & turns brown & stir gently pan in between to mix.

-Add butter & mix well.

-Add water,rose water,lemon juice,mix well & cook for a minute & set aside.

-Trim bread edges & generously apply butter on both sides of bread slice.

-In frying pan,add bread slices & toast from both sides until golden brown & crispy then cut into small cubes.

Assembling:

-In a serving cup,add toasted bread cubes & pour prepared caramel syrup on it while it is still warm.

-Press gently & let it soak for 5 minutes.

-Add & spread prepared ashta & refrigerate until chilled.

-Garnish with soan papri,pistachios & serve chilled!
