Ingredients:

Zeera Rice

  • Oil 4 tbs
  • Tez paat (Bay leaves) 2-3
  • Darchini (Cinnamon stick) 2
  • Laung (Cloves) 5-6
  • Hari elaichi (Green cardamom) 4-5
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) 1 tbs
  • Chawal (Rice) Basmati sella 2 Cups soaked for 30 minutes
  • Pani (Water) 4-5 Cups
  • Namak (Salt) 1 tsp

Khatti Daa

  • Moong daal (Split yellow lentil) 1/2 Cup (soaked for 1 hour)
  • Masoor daal (Split orange lentil) 1/2 Cup (soaked for 1 hour)
  • Pani (Water) 1 litre
  • Haldee powder (Turmeric powder) 1 tsp
  • Lal mirch powder (Red chili powder) 1 & ½ tsp
  • Namak (Salt) 1 tsp
  • Darchini (Cinnamon stick) 1
  • Adrak lehsan paste (Ginger garlic paste) 1 tbs
  • Imli ka gooda (Tamarind pulp) 2 tbs
  • Tamatar (Tomato) chopped 1
  • Hara dhania (Fresh coriander) 2-3 tbs
  • Hari mirch (Green chilies) chopped 1-2

Tadka:

  • Oil ¼ Cup
  • Lehsan (Garlic) cloves 3
  • Sabut lal mirch (Whole red chilies) 4-5
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) ½ tsp
  • Curry pata (Curry leaves) 7-8

Tali hari mirchein (Fried Green Chilies)

  • Imli ka gooda (Tamarind pulp) ½ Cup
  • Zeera (Cumin seeds) roasted & crushed ¼ Cup
  • Dhania (Coriander seeds) roasted & crushed ¼ Cup
  • Lal mirch (Red chili) crushed ½ tsp
  • Namak (Salt) ½ tsp
  • Hari mirch (Green chilies) 8 large
  • Oil ¼ Cup
  • Lemon juice 1-2 tbs

Directions:

Zeera Rice

In pot,add oil,bay leaves,cinnamon sticks,cloves,green cardamom,cumin seeds and mix well.

Add basmati sella rice and mix well,add water,salt and mix,bring it to boil,cook until water is reduced.

Cover & steam cook for 8-10 minutes.

Khatti Daa

In pot,add split yellow lentil,split orange lentil,water,turmeric powder,red chili powder,salt,cinnamom stick,ginger garlic paste and mix well,bring it to boil,cover and cook until tender lentils are done (25-30 minutes).

Mash lentils with masher,add tamarind pulp,tomato and mix well,cover & cook until tomato are soft (8-10 minutes).

Add fresh coriander and green chilies,mix well.

For Tadka

In small frying pan,add oil,garlic,whole red chilies and mix well.

Add cumin seeds,curry leaves and fry until light brown.

Add tadka on daal and serve.

Tali hari mirchein (Fried Green Chilies)

In bowl,add tamarind pulp,cumin seeds,coriander seeds,red chili crushed,salt and mix well.

Wash and pat dry green chilies,slits green chilies from center and fill the green chilies with prepared spice mix.

In frying pan,add oil and stuffed green chilies,cover and fry from both sides until done.

In the end,squeeze lemon juice and serve.
